The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) will issue the results of a
multi-institutional landmark national study on the effects of
firefighter staffing levels and crew arrival times on residential
firefighting operations in a news briefing on April 28, 2010.
The report provides scientific data that
will help inform fire chiefs and public officials make decisions on
firefighting budgets, crew sizes and placement of fire stations.
Speakers will include principal investigators from NIST and the
International Association of Fire Fighters. A public stakeholder
meeting will follow.
The briefing will be held on Wednesday,
April 28, 2010, 9:00 a.m. Eastern time, at the Washington Hilton,
Jefferson East Room (Concourse Level), 1919 Connecticut Avenue, N.W.,
Washington, D.C.
